The Northern Colorado Grotto is a collective of cavers based primarily out of the Colorado Front Range cities of Loveland and Fort Collins. We are affiliated with the national Speleological Society and actively support the preservation and exploration of caves across Colorado and around the world. Meetings typically begin at 7:30 p.m. and are held on the 2nd Tuesday of every month at a different member’s home. Please see our calendar of events for details regarding upcoming meetings. All are welcome. Currently our grotto officers are as follows:
- President—Kristen Levy
- Vice-President—Pete Graham
- Secretary—Bruce Daily
- Treasurer—Bob Stucklen
Membership rules are not strict but if you are considering becoming a member, we ask that you attend several meetings and get to know us (and vice versa). We do ask that you are local-ish to the area and not already a member of lots of other grottos. Attendance at every meeting is certainly not mandatory but if we don’t see your face or hear from you for months on end, you may be dropped from the email list.
This question is not about caves / mines but it is about mining that was done in the area. We own property on 287 about 15 miles from Ft Collins. There is an active mine next to us and at one time in the past they were mining on our property. There are lots of rusty powder cans and areas where they started to drill but seemed to stop for some reason. Do you know what they might have been looking for ?
Thanks
Norm
