Meetings

The NCG holds monthly meetings on the 2nd Tuesday of every month. The meetings are informal and the locations rotate between several grotto members homes. Meetings typically start at 7:30 and run for about 1–2 hours. Our next meeting will be on Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at the home of Pete Graham, and our January meeting will be at the home of Mike Goar and Cyndi Mosch. The December meeting will feature a discussion about adding a digital projector to the grotto for movies and slide shows. There will also be a discussion about some caver work trips at Jewel Cave in South Dakota. The January meeting will also be the grotto’s annual fund raising auction. Plan to arrive a bit early (between 6:30 and 7:00) and bring goods to auction and bit early and often. This is the only source of funds for the grotto as we no longer collect dues.

  1. I went speunking with DU’s Alpine Club last year and loved it, so I’m just trying to find opportunities to continue going. I’d love to be able to come to a meeting or something so I can get more involved with caving!

It is our annual auction so bring stuff to auction or money to buy stuff. See other posts, kids, beer, snacks, etc… are all welcome.
come around 6:30-7:00 and you will have a chance to meet lots of people.

    • Dain,
Did you see where the next meeting is? On January 10, 2012. 1515 W. 15th in Loveland. It is our annual auction so if you come, if you have anything you’d like to donate, please bring it. It is a very informal/fun meeting. kids/beer/dogs are welcome, not necessarily in that order though.

    • Hi Sean,
Yes, kids attend. The hosts have two kids 8ish and 10ish. There is a backyard and they usually run wild. Stuff to bring, hmmm. Old usable gear, t-shirts, rocks, beer, books. Anything really that is not junk that could be re-purposed. We set it up and everyone looks at it and then the auction starts. It is very informal. Hope to see you there.
Sorry about the previous message. Our meetings are the second Tuesday of each month and location varies. I will start monitoring this website to reply to messages sooner.

  2. I was looking in to doing some spelunking with a few buddies of mine around the Fort Collins area which we are fairly new to the subject and I was wondering where would be a good place to start. I was doing a little in the Black Hills area in South Dakota and came to the conclusion that it seems to be difficult to find these locations of the caves there. I am just looking to avoid that problem here and jump right into it. I tried talking to the forest service and they said there was none which I found difficult to believe and through further research proved to be false. So a little help and direction would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time
